Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #123 — Illustrate a Sermon Through Dance
Standard
This is a great example of an illustrated sermon. The story of Mary and Martha is told through dance. And dance alone. No lyrics, no words, no dialogue. Yet it beautifully illustrates the scripture passage found in Luke 10. Continue reading

Can You Learn to Be Creative?
Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #121 — Worship Pad Loops
StandardWorship band a little sparse on keyboard, piano, and /or synth? I’ve struggled with this very problem as a worship leader until I discovered Worship Pad Loops by Shalon Palmer.
Pad loops provide ambient noise in the key that matches the songs you’re playing and fills in empty space with beautiful sound.
Files download right onto your phone or mp3 player and then can be routed through your sound system. I have used them in a variety of settings including a large cavernous church and a small retreat setting. Works well in many settings!
Skeptical? There’s a sample in the key of A so grab your guitar and play your favorite song in A right along with it to hear how it sounds! And enjoy your worship time with Jesus as you do!
Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #120 — Vulnerability in Creativity
StandardIn this article entitled “Keys to Creativity: Vulnerability” by Diana Pitaru of Unleash Your Creativity blog, she encourages the reader to step into a place of vulnerability in their creative process. Yet she recognizes that’s much easier said than done:
“Vulnerability can be a hard to reach place because we’ve been trained to bury it and stay away from it. It feels uncomfortable because this is where all our demons hide: the things that marked us, terrible things we’ve felt and parts of us that we learn are unwanted. . . “
Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #119 — Creativity A’Blaze’

Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #118 — Disturb Us Lord
StandardDisturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore. Continue reading

Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #116 — What is Creativity?
StandardSpeaking on creativity, artist Sara Joseph states:
“If it flows as an outpouring of your walk with the Lord, creativity becomes an organic entity with the potential to explode into unforeseen territories. It is like dropping brilliantly colored ink into a sparkling lake, watching the ink spread and change unpredictably in hue and intensity as it catches the light. The Lord can turn your limited creativity into something far more than you could ever have imagined, the more time you spend with Him and the more you trust Him with it.”

Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #113 — Don’t Put God in a Box
Standard
Sometimes we try to put God in boxes—boxes of religious dogma and tradition. But Christ came and spoke out against all of that! He came, and he broke open the boxes we like to try to use to contain God. Thank you Jesus for being bigger than our boxes, our traditions, our will and our way!
This is my friend Darrin Hoover painting Six Boxes: Continue reading

Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #110 — Beautiful Bible
Standard
The St. John’s Bible is masterful work of art and a wonderful work of God! It’s a Christian artist’s dream as far as Bibles go! In 1998, Saint John’s Abbey and University commissioned renowned calligrapher Donald Jackson to produce a hand-written, hand-illuminated Bible. Seven volumes later and the project was complete! I love what Jackson says about the process of working on this project:
“The continuous process of remaining open and accepting of what may reveal itself through hand and heart on a crafted page is the closest I have ever come to God.”
Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #109 — Common Prayer
StandardCommon Prayer is a site created by Shane Claiborne & Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, designed to draw people together in a virtual setting to pray common (or the same) prayers. As we join our hearts together across the world in these prayers, we are united with God’s people and places and purposes.
Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #108 — Soaring like Eagles
StandardDr. Pamela Hardy created the Eagles International Training Institute to mentor and train leaders of worship art ministries around the world. Below is Pamela ministering through dance with Yvonne Peters to Grace Flows Down. You’ll notice about 4:13 in, the music switches from the recording to live music by the event’s worship team. It’s obvious that the Holy Spirit’s healing power and anointing was flowing and the participants did NOT want to leave the beauty of the moment: Continue reading

Create-A-Day: your daily dose of creativity #106 — Fun in Your Creativity
Standard
From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise! (Matt 21:16)
When I first saw this video I was first struck by this boy’s exuberance, then by his uncanny metronome-like sense of meter and timing, and then by his knowledge of this intricate piece of music. And then, of course, on the shear fun and laughter of it all! He is filled with energy and life as he conducts his imaginary orchestra! He captures the nuances of the dynamics of the song as it swells and collapses back down to near silence!
Create-A-Day, your daily dose of creativity #105 — Prophetic Arts for Jesus
Standard
It’s another Facebook Friday here on Create-A-Day!
Today’s group is Prophetic Arts for Jesus and they have over 7,000 members! The group description is as follows:
This group is a community of prophetic artists for Jesus and those who want to see what Jesus is doing in the arts across the world. All arts that share God’s love and prophecy life are welcome here! It’s great to have a place to grow in your gifts to glorify God!
Prophetic art is born from the reality that we are created in God’s image and therefore, we are creators in His likeness. How do we create this way? Create from your core, not your eye. Ask Father God to tell you what and how to create, then follow His lead. Be alive with the revelation that you can change your community by offering art that is of heaven, not earthly skill only. People are transformed when they see art that reflects how much Father God loves them. Lets change the world one community at a time!
