Several years ago I embarked on a year-long project called Create-a-Day. Like a One-a-Day Vitamin, it was designed as a daily dose of creativity, in order to inspire others and to direct viewers to people and projects where creativity was making a difference in the lives of others. With the publication of my second book in the Bible Studies to Nurture the Creative Spirit Within series, I will again be undertaking a year-long project starting September 4th to coincide with the release of my new title, The Creator’s Healing Power—Restoring the Broken to Beautiful. This project will be called…
“Kintsugi of the Soul”
Pictured above, kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with a lacquer mixed with powdered gold. When an object is broken, rather than discarding the damaged and broken, the pieces are mended, and cracks are filled with precious metal and, in many ways, make the object more beautiful than it was at the start. As a philosophy, it is rooted in the inherent beauty of all objects, no matter what they’ve endured.
The philosophy behind kintsugi is the same one that inspires my new book, The Creator’s Healing Power. Kintsugi is a powerful metaphor of Jesus Christ, the Master Artisan, filling and healing the shattered places within. As the broken places are tenderly pieced back together and repaired with his golden healing balm, they become a beautiful place where God’s glory is revealed in our weakness. Based on the Formational Prayer Model developed by Dr. Terry Wardle, The Creator’s Healing Power is an in-depth and interactive Bible study exploring the connection between healing and creativity, prayer and redemption, surrender and beauty, worship and wholeness.
Along that same vein, in the Kintsugi of the Soul project, I will seek out and share creative resources, personal testimonies, and redemptive stories aimed at healing, restoration and wholeness. Posts will appear weekly on Tuesdays, and you can follow along on my Facebook page or by signing up to receive my emails. I am looking forward to searching out and sharing resources of healing and redemption, trusting the Holy Spirit will lead me on yet another adventure of discovery as I do.
If you are involved in such a project, won’t you please reach out to me at email@example.com? I’d love to hear how God is using your artistry, beauty, creativity and worship to bring healing and wholeness to others.
Blessings of artistry, creativity & trUe BEaUty,

What an amazing find!!
A sister received a vision of a kintsugi bowl for me recently, among other things as Father encouraged me through her. I’m going through a fiery trial designed to break me (self and pride). The death of me. Beautifully broken indeed.
Julia, May you be blessed even amidst the flames for we know (even when we cannot feel) that there is ANOTHER in the fire, standing with us. Hebrews 4:15-16
My book “The Creator’s Healing Power” is based on the imagery of kintsugi and might be a helpful resource to you in this season (on Amazon). Reach out if you have any questions. Blessings on the journey, Your fellow traveler, Jody
